PROTECTING YOUR HERD AT HOME:
When the public comes to visit
our ranch we ask for their co-operation by wearing protective foot ware or stepping through a disinfectant before going into goat areas. This could protect our herd from hoof rot, etc. All new goats must have a
clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian before arrival. These same animals are kept in quarantine.
After taking our goats off of the ranch they are placed in quarantine before returning to the herd. We learned this lesson the hard way. Our goal is to always have healthy animals.
MARKETING & PROMOTING:
We have found that marketing
and promoting our herd and selling goats and by products risk free is really quite easy. The secret is the World Wide Web. You can buy a computer system, a digital camera, and sign on with an Internet provider. Now
have a great time taking pictures of your wonderful goats, at play,
grazing or just resting in the sun. It is very easy to put together a basic web site to show off all of your great, goatie pictures and products or you may want to hire a web service. We are
fortunate to have a web master who has made our award winning web site informative as well as fun. Check it out at www.garrettranch.com The big surprise will be how many goats and goat
products that you have sold without leaving home. Showing off your goats in public is a fun way to spend the day. However showing them off at home can be the safest as well as very profitable.
WHY SHOULD YOU RAISE PYGORA GOATS?
The PBA founder referred to the Pygora as a “small homestead” goat. She felt
that this breed could give you kids to sell, easy breeding and birthing, milk or meat for the table, hide for warmth and fiber to spin or sell. Don’t forget the
most important thing, they will give you love. The Pygora goat is our “True Stress Buster TM..” To answer the original question: What would our day be like without Pygora goats? In one word “Stressful.”
